If you’re looking for a warm welcome, a place to unwind and space for the kids to run free, Howgill is the perfect getaway.

Situated near the River Wharfe and part of the Duke of Devonshire’s Chatsworth Estate, our campsite is ingeniously terraced so that all visitors can take advantage of the breath taking views. The surrounding hills are typical of the Yorkshire Dales, with unspoilt greenery and dotted with traditional stone barns and the quiet bleating of sheep. There are plenty of charming villages just a stone’s throw away – the closest is Appletreewick which is just a short walk away with 2 country pubs to choose from where you can enjoy authentic Yorkshire fayre.

We are able to accommodate tents and caravans and offer both pitches with and without electric hook up and each pitch includes your own picnic bench so that you can enjoy the views whilst cooking up your campsite meals.

The site has a main modern shower and toilet block, a covered washing up area, and a coin operated washing machine and tumble dryer. There are also numerous smaller toilet and shower blocks dotted around the site for our visitor’s convenience.

If you would prefer a more luxurious stay, our timber lodges are just the thing for you! Outside you will find a log fired hot tub, a firepit with built in pizza oven and a picnic table. The lodges are situated at the top of the site with exceptional views over the valley.

No camping trip is complete without an evening around open fire, so you can hire our popular fire pits from reception, they even come with kindling and logs – just ask a member of our team when you check in.

We are delighted to welcome Audrey, Dorothy and Ethel our 3 gorgeous alpaca girls. You will find them happily grazing in their paddock next door to the camping field.

There is plenty of space around the site for children to play, and even a woodland area for them to explore.

A favourite of all chocoholics is the Brownie Barn which is located next door to our campsite. Their famous freshly baked brownies are to die for, but if you’re not hungry you can still admire the views whilst you drink your fresh barista coffee, cooling smoothie or decadent milkshake.
