We (me, husband and 3 children under 8) stayed at Etherley in August after a friend recommended the site. The facilities are basic but the area is wonderful. The children particularly liked collecting wood and having a campfire. We shall return next year.

Myself my husband and two children visited this campsite over the easter break and stayed for just one night due to the age of our children (4 & 6).
Firstly it was excellent value, and although the facilites are basic (portaloo type toilets and basic showers in converted container) it was much cheaper than other sites around this area.
Also you are not restricted to a pitch and can set up where ever you like and had plenty of space.
There are lots of lovely walks nearby and it was great to see the children just playing in an open space.
Campfires are allowed and logs for sale at the shop.
All in all very pleasant- will be coming back!
