We cannot wait to return next year. The location of the park couldnt be any better we had the most fantastic holiday, we hired a day boat on our first day and a canoe on our second, all the staff were so friendly and helpful. We tried to extend our holiday by another week but unfortunately they were fully booked.

On arrival at Waveney River Centre, we were pleasantly surprised, although we had received great reviews about the park and marina.
It is a haven of wildlife and is a deserving park for the David Bellamy Gold Conservation award. The scenery is spectacular and even more so if you are a boat enthusiast. The marina is filled with a fantastic variety of old and new boats and yachts.
Wayne and I arrived a little late due to the traffic but we received a warm welcome and guided to a great pitch looking out over the marina.

The touring pitches offer plenty of room for a van and awning all having electric and some offering a water point. The camping pitches also have electric hook up and are well equipped to accommodate the largest family size tents.
The eco toilet block is beautiful. They are the best toilets we have visited warm and clean.

The same is applied to the dish washing facilities, it was pleasure to use them, each sink having its own refuge bag and very hot water.

To enter the showers you are given a number to key in. This is to stop the children from running in and out with dirty feet – a great idea. Each shower cubicle (Wet Room) has its own toilet a fantastic powerful shower, plenty of room for undressing and dressing and a sink. These are also the best I have used.

The site shop has everything you could possibly need. Outside a maggot machine – I never knew these existed! On leaving we noticed that they sell tent water proofer what a fantastic idea.

Although we didn’t go swimming the swimming pool is warm and clean. A great place for the kids to release that built up energy. You can even watch them from outside if they are old enough to swim on their own. The swimming pool is not free but charged as a pay-as-you-go scheme.

The Fish Called Eddie is a great logo its fun a quirky and encourages kids to protect their environment and become one with nature.
There are plenty of fishing opportunities on and around the Centre.

If you own your own canoe or kayak bring it along or you can hire one of Waveney’s at a reasonable charge. Waveney River Centre offer a ferry that takes visitors to the other-side of the river where you can walk along the nature walk to Oulten Broad or Beccles .
We took a lovely day’s cruise on one of Waveney’s boats to Somerlayton. The weather was fantastic hot and sunny. The trip was quite long 3 hours with a stop at Somerleyton’s pub.
On the return we took a diversion to Oulton Broad. This is a stunning riverside town. We were taken- a-back by the fantastic boats and gardens all leading out to a wonderful array of boat houses.
We witnessed a swimming squirrel and a kestrel in a matter of 5 minutes. On reflection I would take the boat to Beccles in the morning going back through Waveney and on to Oulten Broad for the afternoon.

The local beaches are only a short distance away keep to the quieter beaches if you enjoy peace and quiet. Most are dog friendly if only in parts, in fact some are like taking a visit to ‘Crufts’ so dress you dog in its best togs.
I was amazed at the cleanliness and the golden sands of Norfolk beaches.

If camping or touring is not your cup of tea then Waveney also rent out lodges, Park Homes, Statics and Penthouses all as equally beautiful. These offer spaciousness and comfort and most are fitted out for the disabled. Lodges are also for sale at Waveney, with many future plans.

Only negative was the TV signal was not great but who needs television in such stunning surroundings.

Campsite Finder Online had a wonderful week at Waveney River Centre THANK YOU . We cannot recommend this park enough. Take a trip there yourself and let us know what you think.

Stayed in Aug 2010, the weather was terrible so we had to abandon after one night. Lovely site tho, really clean, showers wonderful and launderette good too although when i was there it also seemed to be a hangout for teenagers meeting their friends (think they could do with a shelter for teenagers to congregate). Clubhouse good and fishing fantasitic, good swimming pool (indoor) with jacuzzi and cafe bar looked good too, but didnt have a chance to try anything tho’. Shop well stocked and not overpriced. A couple of staff though could do with customer training, or diff career!.

Thanks for your review and we’re sorry to learn that you were disappointed. We ask all campers to leave a 3m gap between tents for fire safety and we make both the pitch and maximum tents sizes very clear on our web site, brochure and confirmation email. Unfortunately some customers have ignored the instructions this summer and arrived with much larger tents – so we’ve had the choice of trying to accommodate then or sending them home. We do take your comments seriously and will be looking at how better to enforce the maximum sizes in the future. We’re glad that you liked the wash rooms, at least we got something right 🙂

No bad points at all, can’t wait to book for next year. Views, cycling, boating all great. Play area big and varied. Pool good, pos needs improved changing facilities. Cafe good. Showers great but look for family shower room for a gentler one for the children. Waveney pub does good choice of v nice food, CCTV in the pub very helpful to see children in games room but adults still able to relax in bar area.

Have done plenty of camping but have never been on a site where the pitches are so close togetheri It felt like we were in the tent next door. View and proximity of our tent to the toilets did not help. The private ensuite toilet/shower were however the best I have come across.

Perfect place, lovely scenery, quiet, exceptionally clean, fab showers, friendly staff, handy shop with good tourist information. Only thing I couldn’t recommend was the food at the Waveney Inn, it was v disappointing. However, it’s fine if you just want a drink.

If you want a quiet camp site, clean showers with constant hot water, hand dryers that dont resemble a chap being kneed in the groin, being woken up to sound of cukoos and the dawn chorus, simply fantastic scenery, then you just have to stay here !! Simply out of the mad world I am used to living in. Oh yes…..I will be back!!!!!!!
