Information about East Riding of Yorkshire

Some information about East Riding of Yorkshire from Campsite Finder Online, your online guide to camping and caravanning.

East Riding

East Riding (East Yorkshire) is situated on the eastern coast of England and is home to miles and miles of lovely countryside, stunning coastline, fantastic seaside resorts and the cosmopolitan city, Hull.  As well as stunning scenery, East Riding is also known for its archaeological history, with investigations revealing artefacts and structures dating as far back as the last ice age!

Come rain or shine, there is plenty to do in East Riding.  Bridlington Fun Park is a great day out for the family.  On a rainy day, take the kids to Mega Fun, East Riding’s newest and largest play centre (also with great food and coffee!).  Kids and adults alike will also love DInostar – The Dinosaur Experience in Hull, and for lovers of history and geology, Hull and East Riding Museum explores the fascinating story of the area as well as featuring the 3000 year old Hasholme Boat.

Other museums and galleries in East Riding and Hull include Yorkshire Air Museum; Beverly Art Gallery; Hornsea Museum;  Bondville Model Village; Withernsea Lighthouse Museum and Streetlife Museum (to name but a few!).

Wildlife and nature lovers with enjoy the Children’s Zoo at Sewerby Hall and Gardens; RSPB Blacktoft Sands Nature Reserve; Park Rose Birds of Prey and Wildlife Park at Park Rose Village; The Deep (packed with over 3,500 fish, including sharks and rays); Millington Wood; and North Caves Wetlands Nature Reserve.

For a relaxing stroll amongst the beauty of East Riding, there are many magnificent parks to visit, such as Burnby Hall Gardens; Skidby Windmill Maze; Swanland Park; Queens Gardens; and Humber Bridge Country Park.

Relax by the seaside at some of East Riding’s popular beaches.  This year’s Good Beach Guide awarded Withernsea, Tunstall, Hornsea, Skipsea and Danes Dyke at Flamborough the top recommended award for water quality.  Not only is the water quality fantastic, these outstanding beaches with outstanding scenery provide a fantastic, relaxing day out in this attractive region and of course, what better than to enjoy your beach trip with handmade ice creams and excellent fish and chips?
