Trevella Holiday Park, which is set on the Cornwall coast near Crantock, Newquay has been rewarded with a David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award for putting green concerns at the heart of its business for almost 50 years.
To achieve the conservation Gold award Trevella Park was independently assessed by local wildlife experts, who rewarded the park for managing its land as a haven for wildlife and for cutting energy, water and waste.
As part of the process, Trevella is expanding its successful Ranger Adventures in 2014 to provide free wildlife sessions for children during the school holiday periods.
Activities are led by Trevella’s Park Ranger, Wayne Lowery, and range from fishing for beginners, to insect surveys and building bird homes.
Simon Williams, operations director at Trevella Park says: “To hold a Gold Award for 15 consecutive years is a superb achievement and one that very few holiday parks can match.
“Our commitment to the environment has been ongoing for the past 45 years, from tree planting to the construction of two lakes and a nature reserve, to the launch of our free Ranger activities.
“Large areas around the park are left unkempt to encourage wild flowers, insects and birds and we encourage people to join in with our car free scheme to get about the region.”
