Been hear many times as its the nearest site to home. It means that if we fancy a quick weekend away its very convenient, especially if we forget something.
The toilet block is brilliant and the facilities wouldn't be amiss in a top class hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful indeed.
One bad point is that the pitches are on the small site, you don't have room to park your car next to the van if you have an awning, but that's about the only thing wrong with the site.
Some pitches have a picnic table, which would be a great asset in the Summer.
Loads to do in the area, Sherwood Forest, Nottingham, the Peak District are right on the doorstep.
You MUST visit the pub just down the road, you'll pass it as you approach the site. We have had many meals at the Canarvon Arms and enjoyed every single one. Booking is essntial at weekends but it's well worth it.
Ths shop on the site sells basic grocerys, there is a Co-op store a short drive away, with a very nice chippy directly opposite.
Opposite the site is the old Silverhill colliery site, that's great for walking. It is also the highest point in Nottinghamshire and you can see my house from the top! As well as stunning views of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
Lovely site, well worth a visit if you are visiting the East Midlands
