* has a fast train from St Albans into Kings Cross with only one stop
* Located in the historic City of St Albans which has been welcoming visitors from all over the world for over 2000 years.

About St Albans

St Albans, Hertfordshire’s only city, has been welcoming visitors from far afield for over 2,000 years. The magnificent Cathedral still dominates the skyline of the city and is best known for the shrine of St Alban and its medieval wall paintings. Beyond the Cathedral you can relax in the green oasis of Verulamium Park, 100 acres of tranquil parkland close to the heart of the city and the architectural heritage of St Michael's village and Fishpool Street.

St Albans is rich in heritage and tradition, evidence of which can be found down every street and arcade where traders have plied their wares for many a century. Stop awhile and look up at medieval craftsmanship evident in windows, doorways and timber-framed buildings. Blending into the historic are shopping centres, The Maltings and Christopher Place, offer a range of retail goods. A visit to St Albans for shopping is a unique and varied experience, a contrast to indoor shopping malls.

The bustling city centre market on Wednesdays and Saturdays is one of the largest in the south east of England, with 160 stalls. Established over 1,000 years ago, the colourful street market extends through the heart of St Albans, offering an enormous variety of wares from foodstuffs, flowers, gifts, clothes and souvenirs to crafts and more unusual items.

Don’t miss the Farmers’ Market on the second Sunday of the month and the regular continental markets, which offer goods and produce from various European countries.

This site only accepts tents. The toilets are brand new and of a much higher standard than you'd expect on a campsite. There is ample space for open fires and plenty of freely available wood. The grass is incredibly well kept. The owner is really friendly and a great host. I took my young child for his first ever camping experience and it was a great success.

Really friendly and infact stayed another day. Showers and toilets like you get at home; and amazing grounds - thought i was at a golf course! Looking forward to going again - a little gem of a campsite.
