We stayed at Whitcliffe Camp Site recently on a cheap weekend away. Saw the campsite advertised online and a bit like ronseal - it did exactly what it said on the tin including the awe inspiring view, never seen anything like it.
We arrived without reservations and were offered a level pitch or the open field. We chose to camp on the slope for £5 each - bargain! Head up, feet down, no worries. They provided bricks for our disposable BBQ and were big on recycling which makes a nice change. The campsite has free showers (boys & girls) and they were always kept clean. Rustic farm site by the stables with all the fascilities we really need for a weekend away and electric is available in the 'washroom' if you happen to pack your straighteners like me!
We will definitely be back having enjoyed our stay & the deliciousness of Ludlow - check out the cakes in 'Waltons' biggest butter bun ever.

One of the most horrible campsites I have ever visited. I was forced to sleep on the quite steep slope as the flat ground was 'reserved' - for what I don't know but they didn't turn up. I woke up in a pile at the end of my tent. The shower block is a walk to the top of the field past the horse stables and isn't very nice. I ended up needing to leave a day early (nothing to do with the campsite), and the woman who runs the place said 'I don't give refunds, you should have thought of that when you booked', in a very condescending tone. Horrible horrible woman.
The only nice things about the campsite were the view, and the leaving and never coming back.

I would like to address this review point by point.
Firstly all of our advertising clearly states we have a limited number of level pitches as we are situated on a hill overlooking Ludlow. These level pitches are booked and paid for in advance. Our website states "...farm site has 12 level grass standings with electric hook up with extra space on the slope for tents." When we are fully booked on level pitches campers are welcome to pitch on the slope. At no point have we ever forced anyone to camp on our site! If the site was not to your liking why stay?
With reference to our facilities I would like to note that they are cleaned throughout the day and evening. They have been reviewed in the third edition of Coolcamping England (Jonathan Knight, 2011) "There are 3 nice clean loos housed around the farmhouse and stables, a couple of decent (free) showers, and indoor washing-up facilities..." When camping on the slope it is your choice as to where you pitch, so if you choose to pitch at the bottom of the camping field, the walk to the facilities would be slightly further than if you pitched nearer the top. The locations of our facilities are pointed out on arrival.
I cannot recall anyone this season having asked for a refund. It clearly states on all of our literature and website: "STRICTLY NO REFUNDS"
We are a farm site overlooking Ludlow and our facilities, location and terrain are accurately described –even our limitations.
