Welcome to Park Cliffe Camping and Caravan Estate located near Bowness on Windermere, Cumbria.
Cumbria Tourism Holiday Park of the Year Winner for 2016, Park Cliffe is set in 25 acres of picturesque, unspoilt countryside in the heart of the Lake District, Park Cliffe offers visitors a tranquil, yet accessible, retreat from the hurly-burly of modern life.
Just a short distance from Bowness-on-Windermere, the park is in a world of its own with breathtaking views over fell, lake and an abundance of woodland wildlife – squirrels, roe and red deer, foxes and birds – in evidence all around.
The touring park offers spacious pitches, thoughtfully designed into the natural contours of the park. All pitches are gravel hard standing with electricity, drinking water and waste drainage. Please note hard ground awning pegs are required. Most pitches have beautiful views of Moor How, which is easily accessible through the children's playground.
At Park Cliffe we have two camping areas for tents.
The first, Ghyll Side, allows you to reserve your pitch, with electrical hook-up if you so desire. This area is across a minor lane from the main park. These pitches are allocated by size, therefore we need the know the size of your tent in metres, when making a booking.
The second area, Fell Side, offers magnificent views down the lake towards the Langdale Pikes and across to Coniston Old Man from its undulating slopes. On Fell Side you choose your own area to camp.
Why not snuggle down in one of our popular heated and sheep-wool insulated camping pods. It's a brilliant way to stay in the great outdoors!
Each pod has plenty of headroom and provides ample space for 2 adults and even 1-2 small children. The Pods have a carpeted floor and a double socket with a light and small heater. A small deck at the front provides a sitting area. We have six pods (2 family, 4 standard)on Ghyllside area and one family pod adjacent to the Fellside camping area.
Park Cliffe also offers modern, fully equipped holiday caravans for hire which will accommodate 4 persons (1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom), and are situated adjacent to the main touring park, close to the amenities.
Travelling light and sleeping under canvas or in your tourer all adds up to a memorable holiday adventure. But it’s nice to anticipate a few home comforts too. Which is why at Park Cliffe we offer our guests all the facilities they need for a truly relaxing stay.
Our modern shower block with cosy underfloor heating, free hot water, hand dryers and ladies’ vanity area, is warm and welcoming. Shower cubicles have a useful dry changing space and for families with young children, a well-fitted bathroom is available for short sessions at no extra charge.
If you feel like indulging yourself – and treating your whole family too - you might want to consider hiring one of our private bathrooms for the duration of your stay!
Guests are welcome to visit the park’s restaurant and bar for drinks and meals with friends and family and there is a licensed shop which stocks a good selection of groceries as well as the usual camping and caravanning paraphernalia.
A free wifi internet connection is available for our restaurant and bar customers. Please note this is only available during restaurant and bar opening times. Wifi access is now availalbe in the games room and covers some of the touring & camping park.
The park also houses a fully equipped launderette – so no need to go without clean, dry clothes, however long your visit (or however wet the weather!).
If you enjoy returning to Park Cliffe time and time again, you could make your Lakeland visits a regular fixture by investing in one of our luxury caravan holiday homes or timber lodges. We stayed on the Ghyll side area of the camp for two nites in our 4 man tent. The pitch was grass but there was a lot of hard stone just below the grass making it hard to insert the tent pegs. The site has some fantastic facilities including toilets, showers and pot wash area. There is a decent restaurant and bar area but the prices are a little high meaning that if you ate and drank there all week it would be quite expensive. We took our mountain bikes with us and expected to be able to ride around the local area but it was quite difficult because the roads are very narrow and used by all types of vehicles which meant that you were passed very closely by large trucks and tractors which made my wife quite worried so we decided not to pursue the venture for safety reasons but i am sure the more experienced riders would be fine with this. It is only a short car journey to the centre of Windemere which has some lovely views, quaint shops and pubs and also some very nice places to eat. We ate at the Rumours Italian restaurant and the food was fresh, flavoursome and fantastico! We would highly recommend this place to anyone. We also drove to Kendal which was a nice experience and we loved the local buildings and scenery. The only bad experience was the parking in a multi-storey car park because someone had scraped the rear wing of my car and had not left any details for me to contact them to take it further. This damage will cost me about £250 to repair and have repainted just because some people can not park in small places. Other than that our visit to the area was a very enjoyable one and we will definitely stay at Park Cliffe again because the staff made us very welcome and helpful.
