Stayed at beddgelert in August 2012. The site is lovely and really takes you back to nature. The pitches are large and some covered by the forest trees, the facilities were good and it is only a mile walk in to the town where there are pubs and cafes.
Our only disapointment was the staff. Over the phone we asked for 2 pitches (one with electric) next to each other and were told it would not be a problem. Once we arrived and checked in the site manager was extemely rude and said we had to be apart. We even said we would pay to upgrade so we could pitch in the same area. She refused this and would not let us even share a pitch even though we would still be following their tight campsite rules. In the end another lady helped us and let us upgrade to camp together.
every few hours the staff go round the campsite to check no rules are being broken. It ruined the fun of camping as we were told off for making a cup of tea at 10pm which was when everyone had to be quiet.
The rules ruined everything fun about camping, i understand rules have to be in place but the attitude of the staff made us feel like we were being told off like children for having a light on outside.
Overall the site is lovely and a nice walk into the town location perfect but would not return because of the rules and believe camping should be about getting back to nature and not having to follow so many rules.
