our first visit to this site was in Aug 2010.

LOCATION

The park is just off the main road which runs between Newton Abbot & Totnes. Newton Abbot is the closest town and has got a large Asda & Tesco although it seems to be one of those towns where traffic jams are the norm. Because of this I would suggest turning right out of the camp site & head for Totnes if you are visiting Paignton which is roughly equidistant whether you go via Totnes or NA.

A word of warning, if you are in Paignton area and you use sat nav to return to the site, make sure it doesn't send you down narrow country lanes to avoid NA. Ours did & whilst it saved us a few miles its not to be recommended.

THE SITE

The site itself is predominantly for touring caravans with a separate field for 8 tents. The caravan pitches are hardstanding or grass & have a choice of EHU only or an 'all services' type pitch. The layout is like avenues with some pitches divided by hedgerows whilst some are open pitch where 4 caravans park side by side but with ample space for privacy. The park is immaculate with regards to the caravan pitches and the facilities. The utility block consists of toilets, showers and combined shower/toiler cubicles. Add to that a laundry room, chemical toilet thingy & a dishwashing area and you have a very high quality facility block which I found to be clean whatever time I used them.

Next to this block is the games room (arcade type games) pool table, snooker room, table tennis & bowling lane.

Quiet a good selection considering that this site isnt what I would class as marketed for children.

The site has a restaurant & bar which we only used once (not open every night at this time of year) for the sites last game of Thursday bingo. This was held in the conservatory & even though I'm not a bingo player I doubt that you would find a nicer setting to play.

The food looked nice although we didn't try it.

The leisure field is for two purposes. Firstly it is a massive field whereby you can play ball games etc without falling over one another. Secondly this is where the tents are pitched. The tents, each having EHU are pitched around the perimeter of the field. The pitch is very slightly sloping but nothing that will make you beer slide off the table, (thankfully).

The owners obviously market this site to attract a certain clientèle.

If you like to party or have screaming kids who need entertaining 24/7 then this site is not for you. From what we seen, I would suggest that the majority of caravanners were retired/semi retired/families who enjoy peace & quiet. If this is you then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site to those who are looking for a quality site with clean facilities. My only negative is that there should be at least a toilet & dishwashing sink in the corner of the leisure field to save campers having to walk through the site to the main block. After all, electric & water are already provided in this area for the doggy shower !

We rarely return to the same site but if I did return to this area I would be comfortable returning here knowing what to expect

Excellent site for a relaxing holiday just a short drive from Torbay, best facilities we have ever found.
